Westminster at Lake Ridge is a premier Continuing Care Retirement Community serving older adults in three levels of service: Independent Living, Assisted Living and a Health Center. Our team of roughly 220 total employees serves a population of over 400 total residents on 62 acres that back up to the Occoquan reservoir. Westminster is currently searching for a compassionate and caring Assistant Director of Nursing to join our team.

Job Summary:
This position is primarily responsible for assisting the Director of Nursing in the overall operations of the Nursing Department in accordance with current state and federal regulations. Must be competent in understanding and utilizing the QAPI process. Must be able to accurately complete nursing assessments, comprise nursing interventions and assist staff as needed on the nursing center floor. Assistant Director of Nursing must be available to fill in when the Director of Nursing is unavailable.
Job Requirements:
The Assistant DON should have an active RN license in Virginia with at least 1 years of experience in a supervisory/manager role and at least 2 years of Nursing experience in a skilled nursing facility. A bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN) is preferred or an acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience.
We are looking for a strong Assistant Director of Nursing with the following traits:
- Familiarity with Assisted Living, Sub-Acute Rehab and Long-Term Care
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of clinical operations and regulatory compliance.
- Excellent supervisory skills
- Prior success in developing and building effective teams through motivating and coaching team members.
- Supports and implements Person-Directed Care
- Familiar with EHR implementation
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Key Responsibilities:
Nursing Operations
- Assists in supervising the delivery of all nursing operations and functions of Health Center on a daily basis and ensures effective and efficient resident care.
- Works with the Care Plan team to develop individualized resident directed care plans for all residents of Ingleside.
- Delegates responsibilities, duties, or activities to designate nursing staff when appropriate. Follows up on all delegated responsibilities to ensure completion.
- Ensure staff carry out resident care policies on a daily basis.
- Creates written or oral recommendations to the DON concerning the operations of the Nursing department for areas of improvement.
Care Plan Development
- Ensures that the resident directed care plan includes measurable objectives and timetables to meet the resident's medical, nursing, and mental and psychosocial needs as identified in the resident's assessment.
- Evaluates each resident's condition and pertinent medical data to determine any need for special assessment activities or a need to amend the admission assessment.
- Coordinates with other Care Plan team members and schedules the resident assessment/care plan meetings.
- Contacts and assists in scheduling participation by outside members of the care plan team, including the resident's representative and/or other interested family members.
- Ensures that care provided is in accordance with the residents wishes.
Supervisory Responsibility
- Acts as a leader and manager of assigned positions; ensuring productivity, efficiency and accuracy in work performed.
- Participates in on-call rotation during off hours, weekends, and holidays in coordination with DON.
- Ensures initial and on-going training is provided to employees as needed; ensures cross-training is completed as appropriate.
- Identifies unacceptable performance and behavior exhibited by employees and takes appropriate action; utilizes progressive discipline policy when appropriate and maintains documentation as requires.
- Assures that all nursing staff follows established policies and procedures at all times.
- Updates Resident Directed Care Plan procedures on an as needed basis.
