Posting Summary
The Assistant Director (AD) for Residential Education reports to the Associate Director for Residential Education and is responsible for oversight and leadership of 2-4 residentially-based Learning Communities (LCs) that house between 1300 to 1900 students (roughly one third of the on-campus population).
The responsibilities of this position include: training, supervision, development, and evaluation of 2-3 frontline full-time professional staff members (including Area Coordinators and/or Residence Directors), and 1 Graduate Coordinator. As a member of the Residential Education Leadership Team, the AD is responsible for overseeing the administrative and management functions of their Campus Area, as well as assisting in the development of policies and procedures for the department. The AD supports the ACs/RD to establish Learning Communities that foster community and civic engagement, enhance learning, advance diversity and inclusion, and promote student health, engagement, and success.
This is a required live on position.
Minimum Qualifications (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
A Master's Degree is required in Higher Education and Student Affairs, Student Personnel, Counseling, Education, and related field and at least 3-year full-time experience is required.
Successful candidates will be subject to background check due to the live-in nature of this position.
Desirable Qualifications
Previous experience in residential life and/or learning communities is preferred. Preference will be given to candidates who embrace the concepts of Restorative Practices and who have a demonstrated commitment to intercultural competency development, and fostering a collaborative multicultural environment.
