Student life has a rich and strong history of providing student support services and co-curricular learning opportunities that help our diverse student community acquire and apply life-learning skills. The Division supports the mission of Georgia Tech by enhancing the student experience through programs and services that focus on student transition, learning, leadership, wellness and success, as well as student and parent engagement.

Job Summary

Plan and direct the activities of the Office of Disability Services by providing support and information for Georgia Tech students with disabilities. This office also provides assistance to remain in compliance with governmental regulations associated with persons with disabilities. Responsible for setting employee and/or group goals, determining an organizational structure to meet the goals, assessing employee and/or group performance and providing feedback, and making pay recommendations. In the Assistant Dean capacity responsibilities include, but are not limited to: meeting with students for general questions/concerns, assisting in the management of crisis situations, and serving in an on call role as part of a division wide rotation.
This position will interact on a consistent basis with: faculty, staff, students, parents/families, and community members.
This position typically will advise and counsel: faculty, staff, students, and parents/families.
This position will supervise: Disability Services staff.

Responsibilities

Job Duty 1 -
Supervise the day to day operations of the Office of Disability Services within the Division of Student Life.
Job Duty 2 -
Oversee consultations with students to determine appropriate support needed.
Job Duty 3 -
Based on need, coordinate/facilitate provision of required accommodations.
Job Duty 4 -
Develop and implement programs that advocate for the needs of Students with disabilities to the campus community.
Job Duty 5 -
Identify conditions that negatively impact students' welfare and propose solutions.
Job Duty 6 -
Disseminate information about the needs and legal rights of Students with disabilities to the campus community.
Job Duty 7 -
Meet with students to provide support as required.
Job Duty 8 -
Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
Master's Degree in Student Development or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience
Other Required Qualifications
Overnight travel requean Stued for project delivery; flexibility in on-site daily service delivery hours (due to client shift schedules, project requean Stuements).
Required Experience
Six years job related experience

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

SKILLS
This job requires working knowledge of university level student affairs/student life organization and administration. Specific skills in program development and administration related to disability accommodations including the application of disability related laws and regulations. Additionally, skills in leadership and supervision, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and high attention to detail are critical.
