The mission of our Assistant Controller is to participate in the ongoing process and improve the reporting mechanisms necessary to facilitate our company. In this role, you will be responsible for providing and evaluating analysis for strategic planning. You will utilize your ability to work in a team by providing analytical support. Responsibilities as Assistant Controller:
- Provide directions and assistance to employees performing accounting, billing, payables, payroll, general ledger, budgeting and financial reporting duties
- Ensure timely and accurate preparation, analysis and presentation of all financial reports, statements and tax returns/filings on a weekly/monthly, quarterly and annual basis
- Direct financial planning and budgeting for assigned entities
- Analyze financial details of past and present, and build financial models for expected operations to identify development opportunities
- Develops and enforces internal control policies, guidelines and procedures
- Directs implementation of new financial systems and procedures as assigned
- Advises management on short-term and long-term financial objectives, policies and actions
- Acts as primary liaison for financial audits with external CPA firm, and correspondence with state agencies and other external parties
- Ensure compliance with federal and state contract cost accounting principles and work with various departments to assist providing information
- Reviewing all financial statements and ledgers, and working with the accounting staff to clear up any discrepancies
- Provides training to the accounting personnel to develop their skills to meet future needs of the company.
- Responsible for Real estate management and financials
- Ensuring team is staffed with quality employees at the proper wage
- Managing human resource processes, as needed
- Managing and maintaining all aspects of employee benefits
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
- 5+ years of combined accounting experience in public and industry accounting, preferably with experience in multi-level entities, payroll and sales taxes, and revenue accounting preferred
- Experience with Sage 300 preferred
- Experience with Microsoft suite software systems
- Advanced level Excel skills required including pivot tables, v-lookups
- Experience in managing day-to-day functions and leading accounting personnel
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work with all levels of the organization
- Strong aptitude for research and problem solving
- Ability to work under pressure and consistently achieve required deadlines
- Excellent organizational and time management skills with attention to details and proactive approach
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to organize and set clear expectations for tasks and deliverables
- Strong oral and written communication skills, including excellent presentation skills

EDUCATION AND CREDENTIALS-
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration or experience equivalent.
