Assistant Controller Job Description:
Job Overview
This position is responsible for General Accounting, Accounts Payable and Payroll for a rapidly growing, highly acquisitive dental service organization.
Responsibilities

• Actively work with Accounting team (Senior/Staff Accountants, Cash Manager, and Accounts Payable), including, but not limited to general ledger, financial reporting, registrations/taxes (including 1099 prep and distribution), and accounts payable.
• Serve as back up for cash and treasury functions.
• Assist with year-end financial audit activities, prepare PBC schedules, review staff submissions, and the annual corporate financial audit
• Assist in the set up integration process of new acquisitions into Multiview, to include assisting with pre-acquisition data entry for comparative purposes.
• Journal entries include topics such as debt, payroll, credit card accruals, all AP accruals, revenue including deferrals, amortization, earnout, banking, and working capital true ups.
• Assess current practices and procedures, and make recommendations for improvements
• Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements to ensure accuracy and completeness to include timely delivery and participation in doctor/partner review meetings
• Working knowledge of payroll and benefits to include 401K programs to provide accounting expertise to HR
• Serve as critical part of annual budgeting process
• Work with the tax accountants to ensure timely preparation of tax returns.
• Perform ad hoc analysis and projects as requested
• Develop staff by managing performance, setting goals, providing ongoing training, and maintaining strong employee relationships

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance. Experience with acquisitions helpful but not required. Multi-site healthcare also preferred but not required.
• CPA preferred
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience with supervisory experience a plus
• Thorough knowledge of U.S. GAAP
• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities across all levels of an organization
• Strong leadership skills with a dedication to driving and achieving results
• Knowledge of employee relationship building and performance management techniques
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills. Experience with other financial systems to include Multiview. Willingness to become a subject matter expert in the systems used by the company.
