Summary
The Assistant Branch Manager supervises personnel of the Motor Vehicle Division of the County Tax Assessor-Collector's office at sub-courthouse locations.
- The position directs day-to-day motor vehicle operations including registration renewals, title transfers, subcontractor site transactions, and bonded dealer work.
- The Assistant Branch Manager must also supervise property tax and vehicle inventory tax collection.
- In the absence of the Branch Manager, the Assistant Branch Manager will be in charge of the office.
- The position must be available to perform all Branch Office duties including, but not limited to, processing all office transactions, coordinating bank deposits, and coordinating with other Tax Office personnel as well as State agencies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Supervises office staff. Assists in maintaining personnel records, monitors productivity, checks work and funds balancing for accuracy, and reports attendance. Trains and cross trains employees.
- Prepares daily bank deposits for motor vehicle, property tax, and VIT. Trains and supervises subordinates to prepare deposits. Ensures that deposits are accurate and secure. Ensures paperwork and deposits from other County departments are secured and transported.
- Assists customers by mail, telephone, email, and in person. Assists staff with customers and technical problems. Exercises some discretionary judgment in processing transactions.
- Ensures staff withholds registration for records flagged with North Texas Toll violators and parents with Delinquent Child Support.
- Supervises and trains staff to correct titles to ensure that error reports generated by the National Motor Vehicles Information System and Texas Department of Motor Vehicles are resolved accurately and timely.
- Issues controlled supplies to staff. Keeps detailed inventory records and conducts audits for accuracy. Orders office supplies. Trains and supervises subordinates to order, verify, and maintain inventory.
- Plans and assigns daily workload. Adjusts staffing to provide maximum production. May fill in as manager, motor vehicle clerk, or property tax clerk to accommodate daily needs. Researches and resolves high level motor vehicle and property problems.
- Recommends updates to procedures and documentation.
- Compiles reports from TxDMV and property tax system for statistical and balancing reports. Generates and completes numerous reports each day to finalize the balancing and deposit process for motor vehicle, property tax, and VIT. Completes accounting reports using the data accumulated from end of day closeouts.
- Ensures office is opened and closed timely.
- Will be required to rotate responsibilities on a routine basis.
- Oversees and orders office monthly and weekly inventory of TxDMV items.
- Performs all other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements

TO APPLY, must have a High School diploma or GED or higher education.
TO APPLY, must have Six (6) full-time years of office or retail work experience.
TO APPLY, must have Three (3) full-time years of experience with the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles (TxDMV) Registration and Title System (RTS), TxDMVs webDEALER, or another state’s motor vehicle title and registration system.
Must have experience processing vehicle titles and registrations and property tax payments; includes extensive money handling and working with the public.
Employees may be required to work at any of the Tax Office locations.
If hired, must provide proof of educational attainment
at New Hire Processing or during the promotional process.
Tarrant County will conduct background checks on new hires that will include a criminal background check related to convictions and deferred adjudications in the past seven years and may include credit reports, motor vehicle records, employment records and educational attainment. A conviction or deferred adjudication is not an automatic bar to employment. Each case is considered individually.
