Yes (Youth Experiencing Success) Program Service Specialist provides academics, coaching and mentoring services to out-of-school youth. This position reports to Program Director
Job Description
Responsibilities and Duties:
Program Development
- Work with Career Coaches and customers to assess the customer’s work preparedness and academic skills to ensure a proper matchup with the school-based learning work experience and work with the immediate supervisor of the work experience that the customer will participate in.
- Work with Career Coaches and customers to prepare the customers with the work preparedness skills of punctuality, consistent attendance, working well with others/teamwork, task completion, communication skills with others including the customer’s immediate work experience supervisor and other work preparedness skills.
- Outreach to and development with workplace service providers both in terms of the school based and external work experience planning and development.
- Outreach to and development with workforce training and placement providers.
Program Management
- Responsible for generating performance report for Career Coach, YES team, Administration
- Manage Illinois Workforce Department System (IWDS)
- Manage and monitor Career Connect System for Workforce Development grant performances
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Broad knowledge and experience in program administration, grant management, workforce development, youth work, youth development, data imput
- Above average skills in: Data collection, analysis and reporting; ability to work cross-culturally, grant-writing
- Excellent skills in: multi-tasking; data management, customer services to agency's members
- Demonstrated ability to: train, supervise and support school-based case managers
Education and Experience:
- Degree or equivalent experience: Bachelor's degree or 3+ years experience
- Years of experience: 3+ years of experience in program administration, grant management, workforce development
- Minimum of three (3) years administrative experience working with community-based organizations
- Knowledge of Workforce Investment Opportunity Acts (WIOA)
- Experience working in serving youth population 16-24
- Knowledge in WIOA Eligibility Requirements
- Proficient with the Internet and Microsoft Office -particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint: Emphasis on Excel
- Active affiliations: NAWDP (National Association of Workforce Development Professionals)
- Requires use of a car with valid driver’s license and current insurance
