To provide primary health care services to patients incarcerated in the Snohomish County Jail.
- Provides comprehensive primary health care services with responsibility for examination, diagnosis, and treatment of patients, within scope of licensing and qualifications; develops health care plan according to established standards of care in a correctional setting.
- Provides medical treatment and advice to patients as may be indicated; prescribes and/or administers medications, secures case history and related pertinent information; examines patients, utilizes laboratory and other diagnostic tests, interpreting findings for diagnosis; diagnoses ailment(s) and performs necessary treatment and follow?up treatment as may be indicated and within scope of qualifications license.
- Refers patients with serious medical conditions to contract physician or hospital if indicated or refers for consultation to medical, surgical or other adjunct services.
- Maintains clinical records on all patients seen in a manner consistent with confidentiality of health care records guidelines and department regulations protocol.
- Consults with the Programs Administrators or Registered Nurse Supervisor, family, contract Medical Professionals, staff and other outside providers as may be necessary.
- Provides instruction, guidance or in service training to other clinic and detention staff as appropriate.
- Participates in organizing and directing preventive health programs approved by the Health Services Administrator such as programs to facilitate optimal health, disease detection and prevention, and management of common illnesses as necessary.
- Participates in developing and determining standards of care and goals of the Medical Unit as well as the development and implementation of a quality assurance program as needed.
- Participates in a shared on call system with other providers as scheduled.
- Participates in management/departmental meetings as requested.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
