Nicholson Builders is looking to grow our team and hire on an experienced Architectural Designer to be responsible for finished plans, specifications, or approval of materials and construction. You will be applying sound and diverse knowledge of architecture principles and practices in a broad array of assignments and related fields.
This is a full-time position which offers a pay rate between $30-45/hr and will be determined based upon experience and performance. A full benefits package is also provided.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Include:
- Perform as-built site field measure for new projects.
- Research site conditions and zoning regulations to determine design direction and possibilities.
- Sketching of potential design concepts to assist with visualization.
- Work with other members of internal staff to direct and develop eachdesign as a team.
- Managing the project design schedule from initial field measure throughconstruction documentation.
- Serves as the primary liaison communicating design concepts to clientsand internal staff.
- Meetings with clients and internal staff to review and revise designbased on client needs and communication.
- Sourcing of specific product finish selections and specifications.
- Development of design and construction details for communication toclients and production staff.
- Meet with structural engineer to determine specific structuralrequirements for projects.
- Creation of construction documents to obtain building permits.
- Create submittal package for HOA, historic review and/or zoningvariances – attend necessary commission meetings.
- Communicate with subcontractors and suppliers to finalize design andproduct details.
- Other duties as assigned

Position Qualifications:
Education / Experience:
- College degree in architecture/drafting
- 6+ years design and drafting experience
- Proficiency in AutoCAD
- Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience with Autodesk Revit, Sketchup and Adobe Suite preferredbut not requiredCommunication:
- Able to consistently serve clients and staff with communication that is effective, professional, and polite
- Ability to resolve common problems and concerns of clients and staff in a professional manner
Certificates:
- No certifications or licenses required
Supervisory Requirements:
- Drafter/ Design Staff as needed
