Archaeological Laboratory Technician-Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania/Boston, Massachusetts (Remote-Part-Time)
Summary:
APTIM Environmental & Infrastructure, Inc. is currently seeking up to 3 part-time archaeological laboratory field technicians based in either their Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania or Boston, Massachusetts area to participate in long-term artifact curation and digital recording. Strong analytical and communication skills are a must, including the ability to communicate clearly and confidently, both written and verbally, to all project team members including client representatives, regulators, and colleagues alike. This position will be remote based with flexible schedule options. Experience analyzing artifacts in New England and the northeast is required, and artifact analysis experience in coastal Massachusetts is preferred. The opportunity to also be involved with fieldwork for this project in the New England coastal area is also potentially available if interested.
Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
- Be capable of setting up a small artifact curation studio for artifact analysis at a remote location
- Abide by Company policies and procedures.
- Attend team kickoff meetings
- Apply strong technical and analytical skills to sort, label and digitally photograph artifacts.
- Strong work-ethic and motivation to process a large number of artifacts per week.
- Data entry skills
- Work collaboratively in a team environment, provide input on technical, project, and safety issues.
- Possibly be intermittently involved with fieldwork in New England and around the United States if interested.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or graduate degree in Archaeology.
- 2+ years of relevant archaeology experience in New England
- 2+ years of archaeological laboratory experience
- Ability to pass a basic drug screen
- Strong technical and communication skills
- Ability to lift heavy boxes (up to 50 pounds)
- Willingness to travel within the northeast
Desired/Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with data dictionaries and cataloguing resources
- 2+ years of relevant archaeology experience in coastal Massachusetts
