Salary/Grade: EXS/5
Target hiring range for this position will be between $50,000-$52,000 per year. Offered salary will be determined by the applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
Job Summary:
Under the administrative direction of the Associate Director of Aquatics & Tennis, the Aquatics Coordinator is responsible for assisting with the day-to-day facility operations, aquatics programming, and rentals at Norris Aquatics Center located in Henry Crown Sports Pavilion and Northwestern Beach.
*Willingness and ability to work a non-traditional schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays as required. *

*Note: Work schedule is primarily Sunday-Thursday from 11am-7pm during the academic year and Monday-Friday 9am-5pm during Summer Quarter. Depending on the needs of Northwestern University Recreation.
Specific Responsibilities :
• Assist with the recruitment, hiring, training, scheduling, and evaluation of student and temporary staff.
• Assist with the oversight of the swim lesson program, including, but not limited to, private and group swim lessons.
• Assist with the development, implementation, and evaluation of various aquatics-based summer camps.
• Assist with the set up and the management of swim meets and other special events in conjunction with the Associate Director of Aquatics & Tennis and the Director of Facilities & Operations.
• Assist with the supervision of the Norris Aquatics Center/Northwestern Beach and serve as Manager on Duty throughout the workday.
• Teach Red Cross Lifeguarding and CPR certification courses.
• Develops relationships with members and staff; manages their requests and issues timely and professionally. Responds to patrons' needs/complaints concerning policies, procedures, and programs, in a professional, courteous, and knowledgeable manner. Stays abreast of department software systems.
• Maintains a fundraising mind-set and conducts cost benefit analysis, pricing reviews and lifecycle audits related to area of responsibility.
• Report any unsafe facility conditions to the Associate Director of Aquatics & Tennis.
• Collaborate with University departments/units to provide recreational opportunities or partnerships that enhance the physical and emotional well-being of the university community (both campuses).
• Responsible for adhering to all Department and University continuing education initiatives and required certifications and trainings.
• Responsible for adhering to all Department and University policies and procedures, as well as the rules, regulations, bylaws and interpretations of the Big Ten Conference and the NCAA.

Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in related field or successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree; OR appropriate combination of education and experience.
Minimum Competencies: (Skills, knowledge, and abilities.)
• Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
• Strong verbal and non-verbal communication and organizational skills.
• Strong leadership skills and motivational skills.
• Knowledge of rules and regulations of the NCAA, Big Ten Conference and Northwestern University preferred.
• Ability to work cooperatively with others and effectively interact with diverse populations.
• Ability to establish engaging relationships within and across racialized and other marginalized communities.
Preferred Qualifications:
• 1-3 years of temporary staff supervisory experience, preferred.
• Experience in aquatic programming.
• Experience in aquatic facility management.
• Competitive swim team participation and/or administration experience, preferred.
• American Red Cross Lifeguard certified, or willingness to obtain within six months of employment.
• American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor (LGI) certified, or willingness to obtain within six months of employment.
• American Red Cross CPR Instructor certified, or willingness to obtain within six months of employment.
• Illinois Department of Public Health Swimming Pool Operator Certification preferred, or willingness to obtain within one year of employment.
• Knowledge of registration software systems such as Fusion is preferred.
