Description
Boulder County Information Technology (IT) Department is seeking to hire 2 Applications Developers. Applications Developer is a journey level classification. The Applications Developer performs complex professional and technical duties involving analysis, design, implementation and maintenance of software applications for various Boulder County departments.
Boulder County is in the process of building an Alternative Sentencing Facility. We have procured the use of a Salesforce solution based on Larimer County's software to run the Alternative Sentencing Facility. Please consider joining our team on the ground floor as we customize this solution to meet the needs of our organization and the community we serve.
This is a term limited position with an anticipated end date of December 25th, 2025. This position will work 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday8:00am - 4:30pm. This position will work remote and out of 2025 14th Street Boulder, Colorado. This position will be required to attend an in-person training for the first 6-12 months in Ft. Collins, Colorado. Under Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) guidelines, this position is exempt.
Boulder County requires its employees to reside in the state of Colorado as of the first day of work.
Hiring Salary Range: $81,480.00 - $99,402.00 Annually
Tentative Hiring Timeline:
  • Phone Screening: week of February 19th
  • First Round Interviews: week of February 26th
  • Second Round Interviews: week of March 4th
  • Reference Check: week of March 4st

New employees receive an 80-hour bank of vacation at the time of hire, in addition to 8 hours of both vacation and medical leave accruals each month. Boulder County offers bountiful benefits, including pension contributions.

Examples of Duties
  1. Principles and technologies of requirements gathering techniques, systems analysis and design, and design tools (use case, flow charts, and business process flow diagrams)
  2. Practice effective and persuasive communication to elicit information, negotiate problem resolution, and provide advanced technical services on various projects
  3. Prepare documentation and complex reports which are clear, concise, and present information in a well-organized and efficient manner in both written communications and verbal presentations
  4. Strong data analysis and report writing skills
  5. Perform report testing and review report deliverables with business users
  6. Programming techniques and programming languages used by the County
  7. Information systems and software development models including Structured Analysis, Prototyping and Rapid Application Development, and Object-Oriented Analysis and Design
  8. Developing customer databases, reports, and performing complex data analysis
  9. Analyze source system data to understand the data structure and definitions
  10. Strong data analysis and report writing skills
  11. Document designs and processes in a clear and concise manner
  12. Information technologies including multi-tiered client-server computing environments, business requirements modeling techniques, web technologies, imaging, County server and PC operating systems, application programming interfaces, relational database systems, and software development tools
  13. Knowledge of specific custom applications or vendor platforms being supported
  14. Interact with customers as needed to better define and understand requirements
  15. Convert customer requirements into deliverables
  16. Performs related work, as required
  17. May be reassigned during emergency situations

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Boulder County is looking for well qualified candidates to fill our positions. Any combination of relevant education and experience is encouraged. In this position, we are looking for a minimum of 6 years of combined education and experience in computer science or software engineering and web based application development.
