Job Summary:
Under general supervision, coordinates and manages Inverter engineering projects between customer and internal teams from concept phase to mass production while conforming to internal and customer requirements. Functions as the point contact person for OEM engineers. Actively conveys a comprehensive understanding of all related specifications, program requirements, engineering issues, manufacturing limitations, and competitive impacts. Proactively models and effectively communicates with cross-functional stakeholders, while fully supporting partner groups such as Sales, Manufacturing and Quality in their parallel objectives. Acts to expand relationships and trust with both internal and external customers, as well as being a resource for less experienced professionals.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Coordinates and manages multiple complex Application Engineering projects, with general supervision.
- Identifies future business opportunities and potential risks. Typically leads RFQ activities from the technical aspect.
- Externally interfaces with and expands relationships to customer engineering release engineers as well as engineers from other customer departments. Internally, interfaces with and expands relationships and trust to sales and marketing and other DENSO departments.
- Performs product planning, testing and analysis activities. Independently evaluates issues and provides resolution and inquires for help on more complex test situations. Prepares test plans and technical reports to be reviewed by higher level engineers. Makes conclusions from summarized testing data.
- Prepares and delivers complex technical reports and presentations to customers and DENSO divisions. Reviews and provides guidance related to technical reports and presentations of lower level colleagues.
- Investigates competitor products and makes conclusions on the findings. Acquires future trend information from customer. Analyzes market data, competitor activity and patents in support of future planning.
- Reviews and makes judgments on customer warranty data. Initiates data requests and leads the creation and implementation of action plans for problem applications. Elevates issues to management, when appropriate. Serves as the primary engineering person to anticipate the “voice of the customer” during a serious quality spill. Collects application-related data to help contain the problem.
- Analyzes current processes, systems and equipment and recommends and implements improvements. Recommends whether or not proposed changes or improvements be implemented.
- Inquires to higher level engineers for training to further improvement in their daily work.
Qualifications:
Education
- Bachelor's degree in electrical or computer engineering required .
Experience
- 2-5 years of Application Engineering experience required.
- Automotive Industry experience preferred. Experience that relates to inverter power modules preferred.
Annual Salary: $85,000-$106,000
