The Applications Architect serves as a subject matter expert and project facilitator within the information services department. The position is responsible for developing and maintaining strategic relationships with stakeholders both within and outside of Grady Health System. The Applications Architect is responsible for obtaining and sustaining an expert knowledge and understanding of multiple software applications, their integrated design and workflows. This position conducts design, build, testing, and maintenance within the Epic platform and other applications. Additionally, this position facilitates business requirement discussions and testing with outside vendors and software. The Applications Architect will provide technical guidance and mentoring for the information systems department. This position will collaborate with the application build team, leadership, and stakeholders to evaluate technical deficiencies/inefficiencies across applications; in efforts to develop effective strategies to resolve issues and ensure application build align with the business.

Provides technical leadership to the application team and other information technology teams Creates and / or facilities opportunity to drive operational improvements within application teams that influences both development throughput and impact. Strategic alignment of application features to drive improvement in Grady organizational goals & True North. Ensures uniform enterprise wide application design and change control standards are maintained. Collaborates with operational stakeholders to ensure that architecture is aligned with business requirements. Drives product adoption and utilization.by working alongside operational partners to ensure technology solution is optimally configured and designed for ensuring efficient use. Coordinates and leads appropriate levels of facilitation between IS Teams and Stakeholders (to include escalations) to ensure projects and task, including issue resolution are on time and on budget. Facilitates cross-training technical helpdesk and other staff on effectively troubleshooting or routing end-user calls from the helpdesk to appropriate teams Monitors and manages assigned ticket queue; includes leading team on review, updates and ticket resolution in a timely manner. Develops and maintains relationships with stakeholders, applications analysts, and vendors. Coordinates and leads cross-functional meetings to aid in gathering business requirements and project/task resolution. Develops, tests, and maintains appropriate documentation for routine changes, go-lives, or upgrades. Serves as a primary application subject matter expert (SME) group contact. Collaborates with Epic or other application build analysts to maintain a working knowledge of new features or advances with existing features including build development and/or enhancements to existing build. Initiates customer service rounds, including leading governance or prioritization sessions and communicates system issues/findings to all applicable build teams and/or IT leadership as appropriate.
Required: Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Healthcare Informatics, or related field. Clinical degrees considered. . Preferred: Master's Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Healthcare Informatics, or related field. Clinical degrees considered.
Required: 6 years industry related experience (healthcare, information services, or within applicable area). Preferred: Four (4) year of Epic experience. Four (4) years' experience in a healthcare setting. Must have experience working on multiple Epic optimizations or projects resulting in a go-live event. Must have provided floor support coverage for an Epic application, and demonstrated knowledge of workflows in additional applications during a go-live. Three years of experience in customer relationship management and/or project management. Thorough understanding of business requirements and reporting/metrics.
Required: Obtain and maintain at least two (2) EPIC certifications within a specified timeframe. Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite required. Demonstrated strong communication, presentation and facilitation, problem-solving, and organizational skills. In-depth knowledge of software functionality, and acquiring knowledge of applicable clinical/business workflows. Knowledge of non-Epic software applications considered.
