Overview
The Accounts Payable Office handles the payment of the vendors for the County, Port Authority, Court Administration (County funded portion), and the Clerk. They are responsible for: pre-auditing all payment requests made by vendors providing goods and services to the agencies, paying vendor and contract invoices, tracking payments according to the agency's contracts, withholding and balancing contract retainage, reconciling monthly vendor statements to invoices paid. Invoices are monitored for accuracy and compliance with vendor quotes and contracts, County ordinances and Administrative Codes, Florida statutes, and Federal law. They also handle the various financial and tax reporting required by Federal and State law related to vendor/contractor payments, which includes 1099 reporting to the IRS.

Position Function and Duties
The Accounts Payable Support Specialist position is responsible for performing specialized support functions for the Accounts Payable office.
Position Duties Include:
- Maintain accurate knowledge of the functions of all offices, departments, and divisions of the Lee County Clerk of Court ("Clerk's Office"), the Lee County Board of County Commissioners ("the County"), and the Lee County Port Authority ("the Port"), herein collectively referred to as the entities.
- Know and understand lifecycle of incoming documents from the entities' vendors.
- Run weekly reports used to manage vendor payments.
- Import daily interface batches from the entities.
- Accurately keypunch vendor invoice information into our accounting financial software.
- Reconcile monthly vendor statements
- Keep current with and knowledgeable of applicable Federal, State, and Local laws, rules, regulations, and policies.
- Handle returned checks.
- Perform with consistent accuracy and timeliness.
- Other duties and/or special projects as assigned.
Qualifications
Education, Experience & Certification(s)
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Two years of accounting or bookkeeping experience required using current industry accounting software. JD Edwards preferred
- Two years clerical experience required
- Two years of customer service experience required
- Accurate keyboarding, data entry and 10-key skills required
- Working knowledge of Oracle EnterpriseOne software preferred
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
- Proficiency in business English and business math required
- Excellent organizational, time and task management skills required.
- Attention to detail is required
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment with stringent time constraints
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
- Ability to assist and train others within knowledge areas
- Effective interpersonal skills, strong work ethic and professional demeanor are required
