Job Summary

VIZ Media, the world leader in English-language versions of manga and anime (Japanese comics and animation), is looking for an Accounts Payable Accountant. The AP Accountant is responsible for all duties related to Accounts Payable at VIZ, primarily processing, tracking, and recording payments in an accurate and timely manner. By ensuring our financial transactions are always on track, you'll play a key role in keeping VIZ on good terms with all of our vendors and partners.

What you'll do:

• Ensure accurate, approved, and well-documented invoices. Handle coding and processing in Oracle EBS, navigating complex coding structures for correct financial categorization.
• Manage the credit card program and T&E reimbursements. Ensure timely vendor payments via checks/ACH/wires and address AP inquiries promptly.
• Conduct monthly vendor and bank reconciliations to catch discrepancies and ensure accurate financial records. Oversee credit card reconciliations for authorized charges.
• Maintain up-to-date and compliant vendor records.
• Support accounts payable tasks during month-end closing, including report provision.
• Identify and implement enhancements to finance procedures and systems.
• Offer flexible assistance on special projects or tasks as required.

The ideal candidate has:

• A minimum of three (3) years of accounts payable experience within a corporate environment
• Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field, or equivalent experience, with a record that demonstrates suitable preparation for this position
• Solid understanding of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles, including GAAP
• Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
• Exceptional focus on accuracy and detail
• Professional communication skills, capable of engaging with a culturally diverse range of clients, providers, and staff
• A strong mindset for collaboration and working as part of a team
• Ability to work independently, managing multiple priorities. A self-starter who takes initiative and ownership of completing projects and assignments in a timely manner.
• Proficiency in the use of OCR software

Additional Preferred Experience:

• Familiarity with Oracle or other ERP software

Work Environment & Schedule

Location: The AP Accountant must be local to the San Francisco Bay Area. The AP Accountant will be expected to work a hybrid schedule with one day of onsite work at our downtown San Francisco office per week.

Schedule: This is a Regular Full-Time position with core hours of 9 am to 5 pm with some flexibility as needed.

Compensation: $75,000 - $85,000 annually, depending on experience, with additional variable compensation
