Join an organization that has been making the world a better place for pets and the people who love them since 1903!Full time employees of Bideawee enjoy benefits such as:Medical/Dental/Vision plans, including free optionsGenerous amounts of Paid Time Off403(b) with matching employer contributionsDiscount services and pet foodHealth Reimbursement AccountPosition Purpose:The Animal Foster Care Manager is responsible for oversight and management of Bideawees foster program, assuring proper sanitary, efficient and humane care of the shelter animals while in Foster Care, supervision of foster volunteers, necessary communication with other departments of the organization as it relates to the foster program and assist with other shelter operations task as assigned.Responsibilities: Responsible for accurate record-entry including data entry, statistical reporting of the program including but not limited to number and type of animals enrolled into the program, number of foster homes and reasons for animals in care Recruit, interview, and screen foster volunteers Oversee and direct Foster Program Assistants Work with marketing department to bring awareness and promote our foster program Assure that all foster volunteers receive the necessary training and support to perform their Foster Care responsibilities Serve as the main contact for all foster homes. Manage placement and care of all foster animals. Coordinates movement of shelter animals into Foster Care Work with Adoption Center Managers to ensure foster coverage seven days a week. Properly identify all animals and maintain proper paperwork and accurate control of all foster supplies. Receive and discharge animals Schedule/manage foster animals for proper vaccines, rechecks and surgeries Administer the treatment, medication and vaccination to those animals designated for treatment by veterinary team. Assist in tours, lectures, public education programs, special events, fundraising activities as needed Overtime as required Perform all duties in the prescribed manner and assure the safety of oneself and others Treat animals humanely with compassion and concern both on and off the job. Transmit these values to others Provide orientation materials to all foster and rescue volunteers plus coordinate training sessions as needed Develop a strong working relationship with foster volunteers Maintain database of foster volunteers Provide accurate information and friendly professional service to the public and coworkers in a responsive, positive courteous, truthful and tactful manner Regular and timely attendance. Weekend days will be required on a regular basis, typically a Tuesday to Saturday shift Acquire knowledge of cats and dogs, behavior, appropriate care, housing, handling, common health problems, disease symptoms, medication administration techniques. Monitor health and behavior or animals in Foster Care and reports findings to veterinary team.Requirements: High school graduate or GED equivalent Experience with dogs/cats required. Prefer one or more years experience in an animal shelter or veterinary setting with a good understanding of the day to day activities as it relates to shelter operations. Customer service experience preferred Ability to read, write, speak, spell and understand English at a level commensurate with professional job performance and to interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine statistical reports and correspondences. Ability to navigate and utilize social media for purposes related to the foster program. This position requires the ability to walk, bend, stand, lift, reach, stoop, carry, push, and pull at least 8 hours per day. Lifting of packages and large bags of food, 25-40 pounds, as well as bags of kitty litter up to 40 pounds.
