DESCRIPTION
Performs all aspects of humane Animal Care duties to ensure animal safety and well-being and provides quality customer service by providing the public with assistance and accurate information regarding Animal Services’ policies, programs, and procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS
•High School Diploma/GED.
•Valid Texas Driver License at time of placement.
•Must complete and pass Basic Certification Course required by Texas Department of Health and Euthanasia Certification within the first 6 months of employment.
•Must be able to attend seminars and workshops.

Must possess required knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodation, that the essential functions of the job can be performed.
•Adherence to disease management and safety protocols.
•Skill in safely handling animals, including those with unknown temperament.
•Knowledge of animal's services and related programs.
•Ability to work with frequent interruptions and changes in priorities.
•Knowledge of applicable processes, techniques, and principles.
•Ability to establish and maintain effective communication and working relationships with city employees and the public.
MAJOR DUTIES
Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.
•Cleans, disinfects, and maintains shelter area as assigned.
•Feeds, water, bathes, dips, and exercises animals. Provides humane sheltering services in compliance with State Minimum standards and shelter policies.
•Safely and humanely handle animals of unknown health and temperament.
•Assists in monitoring the medical/ behavioral status of animals and performs related health care activities.
•Must be able to perform euthanasia as a function of shelter operations.
•Ensures the safety of animals and people in the shelter.
•Accurately maintains all required records in the shelter’s database.
•Provides information to the public.
•Transfers animals between kennels and cages using proper handling procedures.
•Ability to work in adverse weather conditions.
•Able to lift large animals and heavy feed sacks.
•Ability to learn Chameleon Computer Software and in-process animals into shelter, complete adoption contracts, and animal reclamations.
- Interface with the public and respond to citizen inquiries and concerns.
•May supervise the work assigned to community service workers.

Pay: From $15.48 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
