Analytical Assay Lab Technician

Position Summary: The Analytical Assay Lab Technician performs chemical analyses of precious metals samples in our state-of-the-art laboratory utilizing various analytical techniques, procedures, and equipment. Responsibilities include analyzing samples, data analysis, instrument operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance. Essential Job Duties:
- Perform duties associated with analytical laboratory operations including but not limited to sample preparation, sample analysis, data collection, and reporting.
- Perform chemical analysis utilizing ICP-OES, Auto Titration, Manual Titration, Fire Assay, Gravimetric Analysis and Acid Digestion techniques.
- Manage daily workflow to ensure test results are provided in accordance with standard lead times.
- Prepare analytical standards, reagents, and test solutions.
- Prepare certificates of analysis based on analysis performed.
- Document and maintain test procedures, SOP’s and methods according to established requirements.
- Work closely with process chemists, engineers, quality control staff and other team members to support production goals and testing of process improvements.
- Maintain safe working conditions, comply with all required health and safety procedures, while maintaining an environment necessary for laboratory setting.
- Support a safety culture by following all safety rules including reporting all incidents and near misses.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Attend department meetings
- Participate in quality investigations
Qualifications/Requirements:
- AS / BS Chemistry/related science or equivalent Assay Lab experience.
- One to three years of experience in a laboratory environment.
- Experience with ICP & Fire Assay analysis techniques
- Experience with precious metals sample preparation and analysis.
- Ability to operate and maintain laboratory instruments, including ICP and Fire Assay equipment.
- Strong analytical, math skills and strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Intermediate spreadsheet skills
Physical Requirements/Safety:
- Must be able to wear respirator as necessary
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time
- Must participate in required safety health monitoring.
