REPORTS TO: MGR - PRODUCT ANALYTICS AND RISK - DEPOSITS

PAY SCALE: $67,400.00 - $80,000.00 ANNUALLY

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

The Analyst I, Product Analytics & Risk - Deposits is responsible for development of reporting and analytics supporting risk/return strategies and ongoing risk management of Golden 1's Deposit programs to meet member financial needs, enable sustainable growth and optimize economic returns. 

PURPOSE STATEMENT:

Efficiently and effectively manage product risk and provide insight into the development/management of financial products and services that meet members' needs and improve financial health.  Ensure the financial safety and soundness of Golden 1 through the active management of product guidelines and economic returns to enable sustainable growth.

TASKS, DUTIES, FUNCTIONS:

    • Data storytelling, converting data into usable information to assist the Credit Union in making data driven decisions.
    • Provide Leadership with complex analysis, using data to add value to our business partners.
    • Apply advanced analytical techniques and exercise independent judgment to identify key trends, patterns, and insights, contributing to strategic decision-making processes.
    • Manage analysis, and presentation to management as reference for strategic decisions, committee review and other information requests.
    • Using Excel and SQL, aggregate multiple data sources into a single story to summarize the results of a review into actionable points for Senior Management.
    • Manage required ad hoc report preparation, analysis, and presentation to management as reference for strategic decisions, committee review and other information requests.
    • Requirement gathering using interviews, document analysis, use cases, scenarios, and workflow analysis.
    • Learn and gain an understanding of lending/deposit rates, policies and procedures impacting responsibilities.
    • Update procedures in response to changes in operational activities or technological upgrades.
    • Risk Strategy: Develop and implement key risk strategies for lending and/or deposit products.
    • Customer Analytics: Leverage diverse sources of data to develop insights into customer behavior, preferences, and needs.
    • Reporting and Analytics: Deliver accurate and timely reporting, dashboards, and visualizations to key stakeholders, enabling them to monitor performance, identify trends, and make informed decisions.
    • Risk Identification: Identify risks to the organization via ongoing reporting of key metrics and portfolio trends.
    • Efficiency: Identify opportunities to leverage technology and streamline risk processes, driving automation, efficiency, and improved member experience.
    • Industry Monitoring: Stay updated on industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices in retail risk management, and implement relevant changes to enhance risk reporting.
    • Regulatory Compliance: Stay abreast of relevant industry regulations and compliance requirements related to retail financial services products. Ensure that product risk is managed in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
    • Teamwork: Collaborate with cross-functional partners, such as marketing, finance, operations, and IT, to achieve defined outcomes.
    • Represent credit union in contacts with business and trade associations, members, and regulatory agencies. Attend civil functions and otherwise promote the credit union's image.

PHYSICAL SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND EXERTION UTILIZED IN THE PERFORMANCE OF THESE TASKS:

  1. Effective oral and written communication skills.
  2. Must possess sufficient manual dexterity to skillfully operate an on-line computer terminal and other standard office equipment, such as financial calculators, personal computer, facsimile machine, and telephone.

ORGANIZATIONAL CONTACTS & RELATIONSHIPS:

  1. INTERNAL:  Board of Directions, Management Group, and Staff
  2. EXTERNAL:  C.C.U.L., community organizations, vendors, suppliers, and peers in financial institution.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. EDUCATION: Bachelor's Degree in a quantitative discipline. Equivalent work experience with required knowledge/skills may be substituted for degree.
  2. EXPERIENCE:
    • 0 - 2 years or more of Analytics and Risk management experience with an emphasis on Deposits - origination and portfolio management.
    • 0 - 2 years or more of progressive banking/credit union experience.
    • Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within credit union operations.

 

  1. KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:
  • Required-Basic knowledge in the following systems/applications:
    • Microsoft Excel- Formulas, functions, pivot tables, dashboard creation, data connections and basic macros
    • Microsoft Office
    • SQL Server
    • SAS, Python and/or R
  • Self-Motivated, can stay focused with minimal oversight.
  • Take ownership of their own professional and personal development to ensure their skills remain current and relevant.
  • Attention to detail; ensures accuracy in work product.
  • Contributes to an inclusive environment, where everyone is treated with courtesy, dignity, and respect, regardless of perceived differences.
  • Fully participates in meetings, proactively bringing forward relevant information, ideas, and potential solutions.

  • Proven track record of successfully developing and managing risk strategies for retail products within financial services. 
  • Understanding of the various risks (credit, operational, market, etc.) and management approaches within retail financial products and digital/analog operations.
  • Excellent analytical skills and ability to leverage data and customer insights to inform product, risk, pricing, and marketing strategies.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to effectively synthesize analytic results into concise and impactful business cases with clear recommendations.
  • Strong project management skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks, manage timelines, and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    1. Prolonged sitting throughout the workday with occasional mobility required.
    2. Corrected vision within the normal range.
    3. Hearing within normal range.  A device to enhance hearing will be provided if needed.
    4. Occasional movements throughout the department daily to interact with staff, accomplish tasks, etc.
    5. Extensive travel by car or public conveyance for out-of-area locations or across the United States.

LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:

Preferred: Data Analytics Certification like: Certified Analytics Professional (CAP), IBM Data Science Professional Certificate, Datacamp Analyst Certification, Microsoft Data Analyst Associate Certification, SQL Certification, or other graduate work in the fields of finance, business intelligence or data analytics.
