This position assists with planning, developing, and coordinating the preparation of various financial and statistical analyses and reports in support of operational and clinical decision-making, and in response to agency requests. The Financial Analyst also assists with the development of the annual budget.
Responsibilities
Essential Functions:
- Develops financial analyses and reports that include pro formas, variance analysis, statistical reports, cost analyses, and other financial information.
- Assists with the development of the annual budget. Prepares reports and other relevant data for distribution to department managers. Assists in the development of revenue, expense, and personnel budgets.
- Utilizes the budget system to input data and create reports.
- Queries various databases and financial systems to gather, analyze, and report on data.
- Provides analytical and informational support related to budget to department managers throughout the organization. Provides requested information and researches problems concerning variances from approved budget.
- Compiles data for various reports, grant tracking and applications, annual audits, surveys, and other special projects, in accordance with departmental procedures.
- Assists in the creation of dashboards for management team that include key operational and financial performance indicators.
- Supports Senior Financial Analysts in the development of various analyses on revenue, pricing, reimbursement, cost, margin, service utilization, and quality, at the direction of management.
- Works with Senior Financial Analysts in analyzing data from a variety of internal and external data sources, and creating trending reports that include graphic presentations and statistical summaries for use in planning, as well as management and/or clinical decisions.
- Assists in the creation of financial pro formas, including deriving assumptions, researching issues, and creating financial models.
- Applies appropriate statistical and validation tools to ensure data accuracy.
- Prepares regular and ad hoc reports related to financial performance.
- Provides relevant financial data for projects, committees, program evaluations, and specialized requests, as required.
- Works with staff, managers, directors, and officers to analyze variables, establish assumptions, explain variances, and develop analytical reports.
- Emergency duty may be required of the incumbent that includes working in Red Cross shelters or to perform other emergency duties including, but not limited to, responses to threats or disasters, man-made or natural.
Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, Accounting, or related field required.
Experience:
- Must have a minimum of three (3) years of experience in Finance or Accounting, preferably in a health care related field.
- Three (3) years of work related experience in data manipulation and analysis also required.
- Must have a working knowledge of accounting/financial concepts.
- Experience with databases and report writing preferred.
- Strong background in data extraction and analysis, and data management.
- Advanced Excel skills required. Working knowledge of other Microsoft Office applications.
