EF High School Exchange Year is seeking positive, energetic, and responsible individuals to work with international high school exchange students at its Welcome Days program held on the EF Academy campus in Thornwood, NY. Welcome Days provides participating exchange students with a memorable New York City experience, valuable communication skills, and strong bonds with other exchange students before they begin their exchange year.
The ideal candidate:
Is comfortable organizing and communicating intricate operational logistics to other staff
Is highly organized and has experience working with a large-scale student program
Understands airport processes/has experience going through US customs
Specifically has experience traveling through primary New York airports (JFK, LaGuardia, and Newark)
Proficient skill level in Microsoft Suite, especially Excel
Can stay focused through tasks in a busy office environment
Enjoys problem solving, is solutions-oriented and remains calm in fluid situations
A ble to work in a professional manner with many stakeholders, such as airport staff, while putting the needs of the program first
A ble to incorporate feedback to improve systems
Is enthusiastic, patient, creative, flexible and has a great sense of humor
Is an exceptional team-player and enjoys working with dynamic colleagues
Is equipped to work late hours (past midnight) 2 times per week or more
Must have high school diploma, GED, or equivalent at time of applying
Airport Operations Coordinators are primarily responsible for the smooth execution of fast-paced and ever-changing international arrivals and departures for 2,000+ exchange students and visiting staff. Main responsibilities include management of the students' arrivals and departures at airports twice each week, including tracking flights, overseeing necessary flight re - bookings , communicating with on-the-groun d staff at resolve any issues that arise at the airport. Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to managing staff assignments for airport shifts and coordinating bus transportation between major New York airports and campus. Must have a valid driver’s license and be comfortable driving a minivan and 15-person van.
EF Welcome Days is broken up into six (6) sessions and includes Senior Staff and all-staff trainings as detailed below.

Week 4: August 7 - August 10

The Airport Operations Coordinator position is a part of our Senior Staff, who are collectively responsible for the smooth operation of a fast-paced and ever-changing summer program. All Senior Staff candidates must be available for the full duration of our summer season.
The Airport Operations Coordinator is estimated to work around 45- 60 hours per week at $17/hour, with any overtime hours being paid at time and a half. All summer staff are responsible for their transportation to and from the Welcome Days location and are provided room and board for the duration of the program. All staff are required to complete two online training modules to familiarize themselves with the EF High School Exchange Year program and attend a training prior to students’ arrival.
