SalaryThe Air Planner will closely work with the Director or Manager to book, manage and rework flights to keep Domestic Air Costs at the lowest possible level within the requested requirements. The candidate will be expected to report on progress and roadblocks weekly and communicate effectively and proactively with account management. The Planner will be expected to support a high level of customer service to all internal customers and foster professional relationships with peers and airline staff.
Responsibilities:
- Process requests from Account Managers for group airline travel.
- Research and negotiate fares for individual groups.
- Book seats, process contracts, send deposits and final payments.
- Monitor and research all possibilities for group travel.
- Generate ticket manifests and send to Account Management
- Process tickets
- Update fulfillment report as needed
- Document accurately all airline transactions
- Communicate effectively with Finishing Team when transferring any finalized groups for Ticketing and Manifest delivery
- Act as a resource for Account Managers and maintain clear communication with all Customer Service staff
- Rework space to get the best possible schedule and fare for group
- Maintain Amadeus Queues and Keep Utilization/Ticketing Calendar up to date daily
- Process and clear Wait List participants daily on assigned groups
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation for all groups assigned
- Facilitate and/or perform training of staff members as required
- Foster communication within the department, with other departments and with management
- Support company policies and management decisions with a sense of urgency and professionalism
- Seek out and participate in internal and external programs that facilitate personal and professional growth
- Write and deliver self-performance appraisal to Director of Air Transportation on an annual basis
- Identify and discuss personal and professional growth goals with Department Head
- On-site coordinating duties may be requested during the season
- During peak travel periods, it will be expected that there will be extra hours assigned to support/be on call to support World Assist on a weekend or evening shift
- Additional duties may be assigned
- Two or four year degree or related experience preferred.
- Dependable, hardworking, well organized, detail oriented, with excellent ability to follow instructions.
- A strong ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and strong negotiating skills.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively manage large amounts of information.
- Computer skills, ability to type, process paperwork and work in an office environment under deadline pressure.
- Willingness to work and re-work space to achieve the best possible fare/schedule combination.
- One to two years experience at WorldStrides, travel management or operations is preferred but not required.
- Must be able/available to travel out of town periodically.
- Ability to visually proof documents and enter data into a computer; strong verbal communication and telephone skills.
