Position Scope
This role is designed to support field research programs with small plot and/or demo projects in the areas of crop protection products, proprietary products, adjuvants, and crop nutrition. Excellent communication skills for working with sponsor reps, PCA’s, and growers to coordinate and conduct successful trials in field research is critical. The ideal candidate has a strong desire for continued learning, acute observations that lead to product insight, and excellent follow through.
Responsibilities
- Conduct experiments and collect data under the guidance of senior researchers
- Assist with the design and implementation of research protocols
- Perform data analysis using statistical software (Excel, ARM) and present findings in a clear and concise manner
- Maintain accurate records of experimental procedures, results, and observations
- Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot issues and optimize experimental protocols
- Stay up-to-date with relevant scientific literature and attend research seminars
Requirements
- Education
- Bachelor’s degree in a Plant Science-related field plus 1-2 years of field experience
- or (preferred) Masters degree in Agronomy or related plant science field
- or a PCA or CCA license and 5 years of experience in an agricultural research role
- Licenses
- QAL required (or ability to acquire within first year including the R&D component)
- PCA or CCA (or strong background in crop nutrition) preferred.
- Familiarity with major California crops, such as tree nuts, grapes, and field vegetables.
- Intermediate level software skills with emphasis on Microsoft Excel and ARM
- Valid driver’s license.

Physical requirements:
- Ability to walk grower fields and plots.
- Ability to safely lift 50 plus pounds.
- Ability and willingness to work in various weather conditions including high heat days with minimal accommodations.
- Ability and willingness during peak seasonal weeks to travel overnight and/or work extended hours.
- Ability to operate equipment safely and perform general maintenance/repairs for continuing operation of equipment.
