Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Act as a manufacturing-focused Project Manager, responsible for managing scope, schedule, cost, resources, and programmatic risks.
  • Receive direction from the IPTL and coordinates often with Tech Lead, Mfg Lead, Test Lead, and Test Project Manager on priorities of team resources to resolve potential conflict.
  • Work closely with the Manufacturing Lead who has responsibility for technical oversight over the same team members.
  • Manage the Manufacturing Team, provide direction on task priorities based on IPT programmatic needs (scope, schedule, cost) and receiving status on mfg activities.
  • Create new tools and utilize existing company systems (where possible) to improve documentation, visibility, and tracking of our mfg scope of work and forecasted work.
  • Manage the Valves IPT Manufacturing Team.
    • Leads manufacturing team by providing direction on priority and focus of labor resources.
    • Request and receive status on progress of tasks tracked in the WIP log.
    • Provide programmatic support or facilitate escalation when team members run into issues or obstacles which hinder progress on tasks.
    • Provide occasional support and peer review during execution of tasks and action items owned by manufacturing team.
    • Keep manufacturing team informed on our scope, schedule, costs, and risks, to help facilitate independence and autonomy in how work is executed at the lowest level of detail.
    • Keep manufacturing team focused on the right priorities.
    • Motivate team and provide encouragement when issues are discovered and negative impacts are realized.
  • Manage IPT Manufacturing Scope of Work
    • Knowledgeable on the baseline manufacturing scope of work, as documented in the program IMS (Integrated Master Schedule)
    • Assess whether or not any requested unplanned manufacturing activities fall outside the baseline scope of work and budget.
    • Manage and maintain Resource Manufacturing Plan, which represents the planned resource usage for manufacturing and acceptance testing of valve assemblies.
    • Manage and maintain Hardware Manufacturing Plan, which represents the baseline hardware demand for manufacturing of top-level valves (Assembly + ATP).
    • Manage and maintain Hardware Usage Log, which is a living document for active tracking of location, usage history, maintenance / rework history, and life of top-level valve hardware.
    • Prepare materials to facilitate Manufacturing Capacity Requests to Production Engineering.
  • Manage IPT Manufacturing Schedule. Create and manage supplemental schedules, showing higher-fidelity (compared to IMS) discrete manufacturing tasks required to reach milestones and objectives – As Required.
  • Report status on schedule for manufacturing activities to IPTL, for updates to program IMS.
  • Manage IPT Manufacturing Costs. Create and maintain tool which tracks costs in coordination with IPTL and additional systems managed by program PP&C and Finance leads.
    • Create estimated cost forecast compared to baseline costs.
    • Deliver cost data outputs to IPTL for roll-in with wider team cost data on monthly cadence to support program-level cost management processes.
  • Oversight on Procurement Activities
  • Oversight on Purchase Orders & Delivery Schedule
  • In response to significant issues that require a major coordinated effort, create and lead a tiger team to identify the root cause and implement corrective actions (RCCA).
  • Coordinate with critical non-Valves IPT stakeholders on the engine program to execute on existing or new deliverables.
    • Avionics – Customer for delivery of valves and other hardware which support integration testing of our Engine Control Unit (ECU) and HIL Systems.
    • Engine Design and Integration (EDI) – Customer for delivery of our valves which support engine builds.
  • Coordinate with critical non-program stakeholders which are necessary to execute on manufacturing and quality activities:

 

 

Education/Experience

  • B.S./B.A. degree in engineering or another technical field.

 

Qualifications: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required.

  • Some experience in leading a team, strong communication & organizational skills.
  • Experience in aerospace industry (space or aviation).
  • Experience in complex component development & manufacturing.
  • Needs to be knowledgeable on Program-level and IPT-level objectives, milestones, and deliverables:
    • Awareness on all manufacturing-related deliverables to the program and other IPTs
    • Awareness of the Program schedule forecast and critical path
    • Awareness of the IPT schedule forecast, including primary and secondary critical paths

 

 

Salary Range: $80k - $155k

 

The actual salary offered is dependent on various factors including, but not limited to, location, the candidate’s combination of job-related knowledge, qualifications, skills, education, training, and experience.
