Location: 1980 Lafayette Ave, Bronx, New York, 10473
Hours: 35 Hours/Week; Non-Exempt
Salary: $39,000 - $45,000
Major Duties:
- Provide counseling, assessment, case management, and attendance outreach for students in assigned grade level.
- Develop group work strategies that support and enhance students’ skill development and help build on youth competencies.
- Perform family interventions to support family engagement and participation in the school community and the lives of their youth.
- Refer youth and families to appropriate resources both within the Good Shepherd Program Network and other community organizations as appropriate.
- In conjunction with GSS team and school, develop special events, after-school activities, workshops, etc.
- Participate in staff/team meetings with GSS and DOE staff.
- Lead and/or participate in occasional out-of-city and overnight trips for leadership, educational or enhancement purposes.
- Provide crisis intervention and conflict mediation as needed.
- Coordinate with other Good Shepherd Services team members and DOE staff.
- Generate data required for statistical reporting and ensure that appropriate paperwork/database entry is completed.
- Perform other duties as needed.
- Minimum Associates degree required.
- Bilingual preferred (Spanish, Bengali, Arabic or French)
- Experience and demonstrated skill in working with youth and families required.
- Prior experience in a school setting preferred.
- Must be able to work occasional evenings and weekends.
- Excellent organizational, written, and communication skills.
- Must have a commitment to work from a strength-based and/or youth development perspective.
