Job Description
This position is located in McPherson. The employee in this position shall work morning hours on Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday, 12-15 hours total per week.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Essential Functions –
- Provides instruction, evaluation, and follow-up in the areas of Adult Basic Education (ABE), High School Equivalency and/or English Language Acquisition (ELA/ESL).
- Instructs adult students using the approved curriculum, with an expectation of meeting or exceeding program goals.
- Work with Adult Education Coordinator in implementing curriculum and documenting student progress. This will include evaluation of materials and teaching methods.
- Submit appropriate paperwork to Adult Education Coordinator for quarterly reports and meet deadlines in a timely manner.
- Establish and maintain effective professional relationships with staff, students, faculty and other HutchCC stakeholders.
- Attend staff development activities as assigned.
- Comply with HutchCC policies, practices, and procedures.
- Arrive on time for work, attend work regularly, and successfully perform the responsibilities of the position.
Secondary –
- Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the Adult Education Coordinator.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Baccalaureate degree required.
- Experience teaching and/or working with adults in an instructional or training setting preferred.
- Experience maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Ability and willingness to teach via alternative delivery systems.
- Ability to develop and maintain effective professional relationships.
- Ability to communicate professionally with individuals from diverse ethnic, racial, socioeconomic, gender and disabilities populations.
- Physical requirements include: excellent written, verbal and listening communication skills; ability to understand words and respond effectively and appropriately; visual acuity to view a computer terminal; use appropriate judgment and apply tact and courtesy in difficult situations; light/indoor work environment.
- Mental requirements include the ability to learn and comprehend basic instructions about the position.

HOURLY RATE OF PAY, HOURS and STATUS:
The hourly pay rate is $15.00. The position is contingent on state and federal funding. This part-time support staff is not eligible for benefits (due to the part-time status); this position is non-exempt.
Hours: Monday – Wednesday 9:00 am – 1:00 pm - These times could be negotiable.
