Job Title: Admitting Receptionist
Department: Laboratory
Reports To: Registration Supervisor of the Laboratory
Job Summary: A laboratory admitting receptionist receives outpatient orders and is responsible for preparing accurate and up-to-date data information for registrations, requisitions and other processing duties. This position is also responsible for accurate and timely faxing of reports, screening telephone calls, provides information and refers questions to the appropriate area.
Job Responsibilities include:
- - Register patients into the computer system with accurate demographic and insurance information, including scanning of requisitions into the appropriate medical record
- - Verify insurance information using appropriate resources, ie: online insurance websites, programs linked to the health system computer
- - Order and receiving orders placed, both electronically and manually , in the health system and Laboratory information systems (HIS and LIS)
- - Ability to work with multiple types and forms of computer systems and programs
- - Knowledge of laboratory tests, proper specimen containers, specimens and paperwork requirements
- Ability to work under pressure in a composed, efficient manner with members of the team in a professional and courteous manner
- Is flexible in assuming other appropriate responsibilities not noted above.
Requirements:
Education - High School Diploma or equivalent
Experience - Minimum of six months office experience desired. Knowledge and experience in medical terminology, procedures, diagnosis, health insurance, customer service and computer programs desired.
Licensure - Not required
Physical Requirements - Repetitive use of hands and fingers (ie: use of computer keyboard). May require use of lifting and carrying light loads (up to 10 pounds). Sitting and/or standing for long periods of time.
