Position Summary

The IT Operations Senior Analyst performs all technical duties pertaining to monitoring of all systems.  In addition, technical analysis of system issues and outages as they occur across the enterprise networks. This individual then performs research to troubleshoot and resolve the issue or, depending upon complexity, escalates the issue to higher-level systems administrators and network engineers. The IT Operations Senior Analyst is responsible for researching and documenting various mitigation strategies, and must maintain current and thorough knowledge of customer technologies and their significance to customer operations.  This individual must be able to prioritize remediation of issues in a 24 x 7 environment with critical uptime requirements. The IT Operations Senior Analyst may also perform basic system administration tasks such as network/system troubleshooting, patching operating systems and applications, and executing various scripts.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Enhance, manage and maintain proactive monitoring of all Infrastructure/Client systems
  • Daily communications with IT and system vendors.
  • Provide timely response to all incidents, outages and performance alerts. Categorize issues for escalation to appropriate technical teams.
  • Collect and review performance reports for various systems, and report trends in hardware and application performance to assist senior technical personnel to predict future issues or outages.
  • Monitor a wide variety of information and network systems that include, but are not limited to telecommunications circuits, LAN/WAN systems, routers, switches, firewalls, VoIP systems, servers, storage, backup, operating systems and core applications.
  • Monitor and report on all issues and outages that may arise using alerting and dashboards.
  • Document all actions in accordance with standard company policies and procedures.
  • Work with internal and external technical and service teams to create and/or update knowledge base articles.
  • Support multiple technical teams in 24 x 7 environment operational environments with high uptime requirements. 
  • Work closely with development team to streamline, and troubleshoot in house applications.
  • Perform capacity planning by using the tools that are provided by the company.
  • Create monthly support metrics for all systems.
  • Responsible for researching and documenting various strategies aimed at mitigating downtime issues while keeping up-to-date with the evolving customer technologies.
  • Implement useful alerts of critical system components.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate Degree in Computer Science or Information Technology.
  • 5+ years of related work experience.
  • Broad experience using a variety of monitoring and ticket management tools.
  • Experience with SolarWinds NPM,SAM,VMAN,NTA,DPA a must.
  • Monitoring methods to include APM,SNMP, WMI, API, Synthetic testing, Log analytics and Regex.
  • SQL queries and SolarWinds SWQL queries, modern dashboards.
  • Applications monitoring and tracing with Dynatrace, Splunk and Appoptics.
  • Database Performance Monitoring DPA.
  • Linux Shell scripting and PowerShell scripting experience.
  • Experience monitoring VMWare clusters in high-availability environments.
  • Linux and Windows server system administration.
  • LAN, firewalls and circuit knowledge.
  • Experience working with incident management, bridge calls and RCA.
  • Strong verbal and excellent written communication skills; strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle change and ambiguity.
  • Effective in a fast-paced environment.
  • Monthly alert audits and RCA of issues.
  • Collaborative/enjoys working in teams
