The Department of Music at The College of New Jersey invites applications for an Adjunct Instructor in Instrumental Music/ConcertBand Director, with a background in Conducting and Music Education. Starting date: August 27, 2024.
The adjunct will conduct the Concert Band (Mondays and Thursdays from 7:00 - 8:20 p.m.) and work closely with the Director of Bands and band faculty to realize the mission of the Department of Music. There is the potential for additional teaching opportunities that align with departmental needs and the candidate’s area(s) of expertise and interest (for example: woodwind or brass methods, chamber music, student teaching supervision, or marching band techniques).
Required qualifications:
● Completed master’s degree in Music Education or Instrumental Conducting.
● A proven record of successful secondary public school teaching experience (3-5 years).
● Experience teaching in higher education, including teaching assistant positions.
● A demonstrable record of conducting and leadership of wind bands at secondary and/or
collegiate levels.
Preferred qualifications:
● ABD or doctorate in Music Education or Instrumental Conducting.
● Experience working with high school/collegiate marching bands.
● Demonstrable experience in successful supervision of student teachers.
