Job Duties
Duties include:
- Coordinating Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) accommodations and compliance. Specifically:
- Researches and analyzes federal, state, and local law obligations to ensure accessibility compliance for individuals with disabilities across the Commonwealth.
- Creates and facilitates ADA awareness trainings on access processes, both internal and external audiences
- Conducting agency evaluation and transition/strategic ADA plan for the agency.
- Monitoring the implementation of the transition/strategic ADA plan for compliance across the entire agency in the capacity of Subject Matter Expert.
- Manages requests for auxiliary aides and services.
- Act as a primary resource for ADA requests.
- Primary contact for external ADA-related complaints and responsible for providing resolution for inquiry/complaints.
- Manages and coordinates agency-wide (12 facility/ 2 Central Office staff) ADA Certification Program.
- Collaborate with officials and administrators, as Subject Matter Expert, to ensure compliance and adherence to policies and procedures for facilities and/or alternations for accessibility services.
- Establish list of external partnerships with disability rights advocacy groups.
- Liaison for public service information about accessible programs.
Minimum Qualifications
- Demonstrated knowledge of federal, state, and local accommodations and disability laws.
- Demonstrated knowledge of equal opportunity and affirmative action laws, regulations, and processes.
- Ability to effectively work in a collaborative, team-centered work environment and provide helpful leadership and support to customers in a timely and professional manner.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively speak and write in a clear and concise manner.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including listening abilities coupled with the skill to analyze complex issues and present clear and logical recommendations.
- Ability and skills to analyze and interpret problems while developing strategies for conflict resolution.
- Fluent with technology, including but not limited to the use of computers and the Microsoft Office Suite and other office equipment.
- Experience working with diverse stakeholders.
- Experience responding to state and/or federal agency complaints and investigations.
- ADA Coordinator Training Certification required
