This position is an important part to enhance quality of life for residents based on our Mission statement “A caring community, nurturing friendships, thriving by serving each other, representing Jesus and His servant example to all people.” First and foremost, be a friend, elevating each person’s interests and capabilities. Know each residents interests by reading stories of their interest, praying and singing with them. It also is our mission to share Bible truths that encourages and helps residents that have challenging days due to the dementia diagnosis.
Responsibilities
- Engage ALL staff in activities, everyone makes activities beneficial
- Identify and record each resident’s interests and capabilities.
- Record daily activities both individual and group activities
- Make monthly activity calendars that are both group and individual focused
- Plan and oversee special activities working with staff
- Remember resident’s memories many times center around Christmas, Thanksgiving, and other holidays
- Make sure residents have Holiday related activities
- Decorate for holidays-involve residents who are able
- Engage Staff and residents on each holiday
- Keep bulletin boards decorated to current seasons and holidays
- Remember there are 24 hours a day and resident activities need to address after hour thing staff can engage residents when needed.
- Plan special parties and recognition, for each resident
- Birthdays
- Holidays
- Other individual dates to commemorate
```Qualifications
```
At least 18 years old and meets employment requirements in long term care settings
It is very important this person has a heart felt compassion for elderly struggling with dementia and elderly residents with physical disabilities. A Christian character with life experiences reflecting a desire for making a difference in the lives of elderly individuals. Preferably experience in Long-term care settings but not required.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $17.00 per hour
Expected hours: 16 – 25 per week
