Comprehensive Life Resources is looking for a qualified Milieu Treatment Coordinator to join our Pearl Youth Residential Treatment team in Tacoma WA.

Function: Coordinate the therapeutic recreation component for the residential treatment program. Initiate services to the residents through implementation of a therapeutic recreation activity. Plan and coordinate recreational, vocational, and socialization programming in coordination with individual treatment goals and objectives. Provide high quality individualized care and treatment for residents. Be a contributing member of the multi-disciplinary treatment team.
Responsibilities:
- Work with Recreation Therapist Supervisor to plan and implement therapeutic recreation activities.
- Teach leisure and social skills.
- Plan and coordinate socialization and recreational activities.
- Provide direct care in therapeutic recreational program which is appropriate for residents and consistent with the program goals of increasing skills, maximizing potential, and increasing level of independent functioning.
- Coordinate and facilitate ongoing recreational activities.
- Transport clients to and from outings using the PYR van.
- Participate in treatment planning and plan updates specific to recreation.
- Implement performance improvement duties as assigned.
- Provide in-service training to staff regarding recreation as assigned.
- Provide data and reports as necessary for program monitoring and evaluation.
- Attend and participate in treatment team meetings, staffing, and training sessions as assigned.
- Ensure the care, safety, and supervision of residents.
- Utilize individualized and tailored care, taking into consideration the specific needs and strengths of residents.
- Instruct, assist, and provide skill development and overall supervision to residents regarding daily living activities, life skills, social skills, vocational skills, and leisure/recreation skills and activities.
- Coordinate and interact professionally, cooperatively, and promptly with other team members.
- Establish and maintain a therapeutic relationship with residents and actively support the program by participating in all activities during scheduled shifts.
- Work to ensure communication among team members during and between shifts.
- Work with team members to create and contribute to a positive learning environment for all.
- Implement scheduled and non-scheduled recreation groups and activities focused on community integration.
- Ensure proper use, maintenance, and storage of all recreation equipment and supplies.
- Document the provision of care and the clinical and behavioral observations of residents in the progress notes.
- Document all accidents, special treatment procedure, and extraordinary occurrences, and submit reports to the Program Director.
- Report unsafe conditions and needed repairs to Shift Supervisor, Program Director, or Safety Officer.
- Actively seek, schedule, and participate in clinical supervision.
- Use appropriate problem resolution activities to resolve conflicts.
- Complete orientation of new employees regarding the recreation component of treatment.
- Ensure that ethical and professional standards of practice are maintained.
- In addition to the above, perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in human services field with at least one year of experience with youth in a therapeutic setting.
- Valid Washington State driver’s license; proof of insurance.
- Must be eligible to be a van driver. Drivers 25 and over are eligible to drive CLR vans. Exceptions can be made for 23 and 24 years old to drive CLR van with verification of minimum one year experience driving a van as condition of employment.
