PURPOSE OF POSITION:
The Activities Coordinator will assist in the planning, developing, organizing, implementing, evaluating and directing of a meaningful activity programs in compliance with current federal, state and local standards and in accordance with the established policies and procedures of the facility.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: To perform this job, an individual must perform essential functions satisfactorily with or without a reasonable accommodation; including, but not limited to:
- Coordinate group and individual activities for the benefit of patients, with emphasis on their interests and needs
- Work with volunteers, families, community agencies, etc. Fundraisers may also be planned
- Access and evaluate residents’ individual preferences, plan meaningful activities accordingly
- Establish and maintain community involvement and create a home-like atmosphere for patients
- Organize, develop, implement and distribute newsletter and news articles for local newspapers
- Perform emergency procedures such as Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
- Assist with the admitting, transferring and discharging of patients
- Develop, maintain and periodically update written policies and procedures that govern the functions of the Activities Department
- Review and revise activity care plans on a regular basis within the guidelines of state and federal regulations and facility policy
Education Requirements:
- High school diploma, or equivalent, required
- Associates or higher, preferred
Other Requirements:
- Position may require unscheduled overtime, week-end work
- Must be willing and able to work flexible hours
- Travel required
Physical Requirements:
- Job may require frequent lifting of objects up to 40 pounds
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Does not have direct supervisory responsibility
