The Office of the Chief Financial Officer (OCFO) whose mission is to enhance the fiscal and financial stability, accountability and integrity of the Government of the District of Columbia is in search of an Accounts Payable Supervisor. This position is located in the Office of the Chief Financial Officer (OCFO), Government Operations Cluster (GOC), Department of Employment Services (DOES). The incumbent directs the work of Accounts Payable Technicians and oversees the planning and timely execution of all financial management and Accounts Payable functions under his/her purview.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Approving scheduled invoices and releasing of payments in an accounting/financial management system
- Ensuring accounting codes, commitments, obligations, disbursements, and collections are recorded and posted appropriately
- Analyzing, researching, and resolving invoicing issues
- Reviewing accounting transactions entered into accounting/financial management system
- Training all staff on operational policy and procedures in such areas as: invoice processing, reporting, and other activities related to Accounts Payable
- Monitoring actions processed to ensure adherence to internal controls and regulatory guidance
- Ensuring Accounts Payable transactions are reconciled to vendor accounts
- Providing supporting evidence of records and reconciliations during the auditing process
- Reviewing new legislation and interpreting the impact on existing policies, Accounts Payable and financial management requirements
- Preparing, reviewing and analyzing monthly, quarterly, and/or annual reports
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications: Three (3) years of progressive experience performing the related duties and responsibilities such as overseeing the processing of payment disbursements; analyzing and reconciling financial transactions; verifying the accuracy of financial data and preparing reports; conducting financial analysis and utilizing financial systems to review entries and accounting codes for accuracy. In addition, one (1) year must include providing guidance to lower-level staff.
