Accounts Payable ClerkJob Description
SUMMARY
This position provides financial, administrative and clerical support for First United Bank, including all bank branches, by processing, verifying and reconciling invoices and payments according to established policies and procedures in an efficient, timely and accurate manner.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS)
- Sorts and distributes mail within the department.
- Utilizes various software (i.e. Excel, Outlook) and web portals to obtain and properly allocate invoices.
- Receives, manages, and enters Accounts Payable invoices, utilizing Accounts Payable software and appropriate general ledger account allocation practices.
- Reviews payables pertaining to this function, monitors vendor invoices for accuracy and timely payment.
- Ensures data integrity and minimizes Accounts Payable invoice coding and payment errors.
- Processes electronic and check payments.
- Obtains & Maintains W-9 records for vendors. Gathers information and prepares 1099 reports to vendors annually.
- Researches and responds to Accounts Payable related inquires, utilizing Accounts Payable reports when needed.
- Provides exceptional customer service, collaboration, and partnership with Community Bank Presidents, Corporate Department Leaders, and other Bank staff.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Performs other duties as requested by management.
- Recommends to supervisor possible methods to improve department.
- Attends regular meetings with other members of the Accounting and Finance departments.
- Willingness to learn and grow through one-on-one training, classroom training and other opportunities provided by the bank.
- Participates in various teambuilding activities.
- Adherence to all First United Policies and Procedures.
- Dresses professionally.
- Completes all required compliance exams on a yearly basis.

Education and Work Experience
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Accounts Payable experience preferred.
Technical/Functional Competencies
- Excellent organization skills and self-starter
- High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
- Demonstrates a sense of urgency and ability to meet deadlines
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience with Jack Henry or similar AS400 software a plus.
- Experience with Banktel or similar Accounts Payable software a plus.
