THE OPPORTUNITY
As the Accounting Division Manager, you will oversee the accounting operations within the Treasurer/Tax Collector's Office and ensure compliance with County policies and procedures. You will have the authority to make independent decisions and judgments on complex accounting matters. You will also be responsible for setting and achieving divisional and departmental goals, objectives and standards that align with the County's vision and mission.
The selected candidate will have the opportunity to:
- Plan, organize, coordinate, and direct the work of the accounting, financial, and administrative functions of the assigned division.
- Develop and direct the implementation of goals, objectives, policies, procedures and work standards for the division.
- Participate in the hiring of assigned staff; train staff in County and departmental policies and procedures, especially accounting procedures.
- Evaluate employee performance, counsel employees, and effectively recommend initial discipline and other personnel decisions.
- Develop, review, and recommend improved accounting methods and procedures for the assigned division; establish internal controls.
- Oversee the preparation of the payroll for all county departments and several other government agencies.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Human Resources will assess your application to determine if you are minimally qualified using the following minimum qualifications:
Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university with major course work in accounting, finance, or a closely related field,
AND
Two years of supervisory or administrative experience which has included fiscal management and program planning, development and administration or auditing and accounting experience.
Additional experience as outlined above, may substitute for the required education on a year for year basis to a maximum of two years.

The County of El Dorado is recruiting applicants for Accounting Division Manager- T/TC. This recruitment will establish a list for the purpose of filling current and future full time, part time, limited term and extra help vacancies for at least three (3) months. In accordance with Personnel Rules 1103.1 and 1105.1, an extra help or limited term employee may be transitioned into a regular employee if the department in which the employee works has a vacant allocated position for the same classification as held by the extra help or limited term employee and the appointing authority requests such transfer.
