Accounting Assistant

This position is a key member of the Finance Team. The ideal candidate will have familiarity with non-profits and prior experience in an accounting support role.

Duties include:

Payroll:

• Process bi-weekly payroll.
• Updates employee demographics, department allocations, deduction changes.
• Include any payroll adjustments to employee’s check.
• Process manual checks as requested by HR.
• Complete payroll reports and transmit electronic 401k file and year end payroll reporting.

Client Accounts:

• Bookkeeping for agency’s clients that includes: setting up direct deposit, logging monthly deposits, preparing monthly budget sheets for case managers to approve, entering in monthly and weekly payment requests, print checks weekly, have checks signed and ready for distribution.

Backup Bank Deposits:

• Prepares bank deposits, cash receipts, and various other accounting tasks. Monthly bank reconciliation.
• Review, code, and make copies of all checks received.

Accounting Support, includes but not limited to:

• Assists in financial data tracking and account reconciliation by entering data into various excel spreadsheets.
• Assists in the month end close and monthly reconciliations as instructed.
• Serves as agency support and backup for all Accounts Receivable (AR).

Education / Training / Experience: Knowledge Required by the Position

• High School Diploma or equivalent; post-secondary degree preferred.
• 2 years experience with payroll and bank reconciliation processing preferred.
• Experience with automated payroll or HR applications.

Pay: $21.00 - $23.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
