Signature Homes is currently seeking an Accounting Assistant in our Birmingham, AL market.
The right candidate will be a detail-oriented person who is enthusiastic about improving the overall efficiencies of our team and able to achieve consistent and accurate work by assisting in data entry, account reconciliations, and month-end support.

Job Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the Account Payable Representative to accurately input manual purchase orders and invoices and generate Auto-Pay Reports.
- Assist in the preparation and recording of journal entries, while ensuring meticulous reconciliation of the general ledger.
- Provide support to the Senior Staff Accountant during the month-end close-out process to facilitate timely and accurate financial reporting.
- Reconcile bank accounts to identify and address any discrepancies.
- Play an active role in maintaining the general ledger and chart of accounts, ensuring their accuracy and reliability.
- Communicate with business partners in various departments within the organization to resolve and clarify accounting-related issues.
- Participate in ad hoc accounting projects, financial analysis, and reporting on an as needed basis.
- Proactively identify opportunities for process improvement and contribute to the implementation of streamlined accounting procedures.
Skills and Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field is a plus!
- Basic understanding of accounting concepts and procedures.
- Ability to organize and prioritize work and work effectively in a collaborative team environment as well as independently.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
