Under limited supervision, at the advanced level, this position will be responsible for the management and supervision of at least one (1) Accountant/Auditor 3 and one (1) Accounting Technician 3. Typical duties include, but are not limited to, managing the workflow of employees, creating schedules, and delegating tasks; assessing the work performance of employees and identifying areas that need improvement; ensuring that the section is meeting the goals and performance standards of the Department; and training and onboarding new hires to make sure they understand their duties and responsibilities. The Accountant/Auditor 4 will also be responsible for serving as the lead trainer for all new and existing accounting staff and working with the Accounting/Auditor Supervisor to develop, implement, and revise standardized Justice and Community Services accounting policies and procedures and training program. Additionally, the position will be responsible for serving as lead accountant on the creation and approval of GRTAWDs and GGs in OASIS, CECs to correct any errors that occur during the grant payment process, and all deposits for Justice and Community Services. The position will also be responsible for reviewing grant reimbursements for allowability and accuracy and preparing invoices for payment by the Accounting Technician 3. Will perform other related duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications
Training: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with at least 24 semester hours in accounting.
AND
Experience: Four (4) years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience in professional accounting, statutory accounting, auditing work, forensic accounting, public accounting, investigative and/or forensic auditing, certified fraud examining, or other directly related accounting.
OR
Substitutions: (1) Master's degree in accounting may substitute for two (2) years of the required experience. (2) Certification or registration as a Public Accountant in West Virginia may be substituted for the training and two (2) years of the required experience.
Preference will be given to applicants holding a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), Certified Forensic Accountant (CFA), Certified Valuation Analyst (CVA), or applicants who have completed a graduate certificate program in forensic accounting and fraud investigation.
