Under the general direction of the Accounting Manager, the Accountant III prepares balance sheets, profit and loss statements and other financial reports. Responsibilities also include analyzing trends, costs, revenues, financial commitments and obligations incurred to predict future revenues and expenses. Accountant III reports organizations' finances to management, and offers suggestions about resource utilization, tax strategies, and assumptions underlying budget forecasts. Accountant III is familiar with standard concepts, practices and procedures within one or more of the Affiliated Business fields. Accountant III relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals and performs a variety of complicated tasks and may direct or lead other and works with limited general supervision. SPECIFIC - The Accountant III - Agency Accounting is responsible for the accuracy, completeness and timeliness of financial data for Long & Foster Insurance Agency. The primary responsibility of this position is to accurately record transactions, maintain the integrity of financial data and generate financial reporting for the Agency. The Accountant III should be analytical, persistent, organized, have excellent communication skills, ability to work independently, detail oriented and able to multi-task in a fast paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Performs daily, weekly and monthly reconciliations of insurance carrier statements, bank deposits, and production reports.
- Imports data into Applied EPIC to capture commission data for Direct Bill business.
- Records policy transactions for Agency Bill business.
- Resolves differences between Agency and carrier transactions.
- Reviews and processes customer refunds.
Responsibilities
- 4 - 6 years experience in the field required, Agency Accounting specific experience preferred
