Do you see yourself as part of our team of passionate, committed, and caring people?JOB SUMMARY:Under direct supervision of the Finance Manager, the Accountant performs professional-level accounting duties and provides support to the Finance Department in a non-profit, grant-funded environment.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:* Prepare, post and reconcile regular and monthly journal entries, such as recurring manual journals, adjusting journals, prepaid expenses, and depreciation.* Reconcile various accounts, such as balance sheet accounts, as requested by the Finance Manager.* Process monthly child care provider payments, including importing, posting, reconciling, and processing payments, in conjunction with program and Fiscal staff.* May post direct allocations and monthly indirect costs.* Post regular deposits and ensure proper account coding to applicable projects and general ledger accounts.* May assist with data entry and conducting agency-wide physical inventory.* Researches and reconciles staff travel advances on a regular basis, properly coding as appropriate.* May assist with preparations for audits and reviews, such as pulling back up documents, as requested.* May assist with month-end or year-end closing, such as reconciling various general ledger accounts or posting adjusting journals.* May support Department Directors by providing regular expense reports, as requested* May conduct research & report discrepancies to Finance Manager, as requested* May assist with creation and maintenance of files, such as vehicles, property files, vendors, or independent contractors.* May scan and electronically file various documents, as requested* May occasionally assist with Accounts Payable and Payroll duties in the event of a team member's absence or a position vacancy.* Provides general support to the Finance Department* Complies with all Federal, State and Local regulations, including GAAP and the OMB* Other duties as assigned.EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:* Associates degree in accounting or related field; AND* Two (2) years accounting experience, including posting to the general ledger and reconciling accounts, with a general understanding of accounting principles, preferably in a nonprofit settingOR* Four (4) years general accounting experience, including posting to the general ledger and reconciling accounts, with a general understanding of accounting principles, preferably in a nonprofit settingOTHER REQUIREMENTS:* Travel and attend out of area meetings and conferences as required per the funding source(s).* Work variable hours and days, including those outside regular Monday through Friday, 8 a.m.
