Position Overview
The Illinois Department of Public Health is seeking a highly motivated individual to review, audit and prepare invoices for payment and enters into the Department’s accounting system. Maintains and updates OWHFS trackers to reflect payments pending and made. Tracks monthly/quarterly the payment status for vendors, grantees and governmental partners. Assists OWHFS non-fiscal staff with procurement activities. Performs complex accounting and auditing work related to grant funds. Prepares financial reports and statements. Reconciles and analyses complex accounting statements and reports. Conducts research for internal and external audits. Participates in monthly, quarterly and annual financial closeout reports.
Job Responsibilities
- Reviews, audits, and prepares invoices for payment and enters into the Department’s accounting system.
- Performs complex accounting and auditing work involving the maintenance of a variety of grant account funds and the preparation of related financial reports and statements.
- Assists Fiscal Manager and Accounting Supervisor with the research and preparation of responses to internal and external audit requests.
- Provides fiscal support for OWHFS program staff in relation to grants, contracts, and intergovernmental agreements.
- Reviews grantees budgets and provides budget and reimbursement trainings.
- Performs other duties as assigned, or required, which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four years college, with courses in business administration and accounting.
- Requires two years of professional experience in accounting, external auditing, budgetary planning and control or public accounting.
