POSITION SUMMARY
This is a mid-level position that receives limited supervision within a broad framework of policies and procedures. Employees in the position possess a comprehensive understanding of the accounting processes, internal controls, bookkeeping procedures, automated accounting systems, fund accounting, accounting system requirements and full knowledge of applicable laws, statues, and rules. They will apply principles of accounting to analyze financial information and provide support technical assistance for departments and/or programs of the County of York.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor Degree in Accounting or equivalent
- Four years of experience in an accounting position
- Knowledge of accounting practices and procedures along with GASB’s and FASB’s
- Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel
- Proficient with 10 Key calculator and computer keyboard
- Must demonstrate strong analytical skills
- Must demonstrate excellent customer service skills
- Must demonstrate a high level of confidentiality
- Must demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills
- Must demonstrate attention to detail
- Must demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills
- Ability to perform advanced mathematical calculations
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare journal entries
- Review and post other Accountant’s journal entries
- Review and post cash receipts from the Treasurer’s Office
- Complete cash transfers on banking website
- Accurately review completed cash transfers by other Accountants on the banking website
- Research outstanding/cleared checks on banking website when inquires arise from AP department
- Monitor compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and County procedures
- Review, investigate, and correct errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, documents, and reports
- Reconcile 30+ bank accounts monthly
- Review and reconcile the financial data from MDJ Offices monthly
- Process payroll and run/save appropriate payroll reports
- Reconcile payroll taxes and initiate payments accurately
- Manage the Accounts Payable weekly check run process
- Review and reconcile the Real Estate Tax accounting reports from Treasurer’s Office to the financial software monthly
- Prepare and submit quarterly Property Tax Collections survey
- Run monthly PCard process in software system
- Interface with all County departments and agencies answering questions and providing technical/professional guidance
- Other reasonable duties as assigned by supervisor.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $50,304.75 - $75,931.15 per year
