PURPOSE: (Include primary accomplishments, products, and services, who benefits from them and how.)

Perform general accounting activities in the areas of accounts payable, general ledger processing, 1099 reporting, accounts receivable, and file maintenance. Assist in the preparation and timely issuance of financial reports while adhering to established internal controls developed to ensure integrity and quality.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES: (What do you have to be able to do to achieve the desired results of your job? Include management and leadership responsibilities for work team leaders.)

1. Process accounts payable transactions

2. Assist with processing and depositing incoming checks, prepare yearly 1099’s, assist in the preparation of financial statements, cash flow statements, etc.

3. Assist with accounting for investments, fixed assets, income taxes, etc.

4. Maintain and provide input to improve internal accounting controls and procedures, as necessary

5. Assist with external audits and examinations

6. Perform other duties as assigned

The Accountant position is an integral member of the Accounting Department that has exposure to all functional areas within the Company. The successful candidate must work collaboratively in a dynamic, team-oriented environment, have a willingness to learn, and possess the ambition to grow and expand his/her knowledge and skills over time.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: (What is required to perform the Essential Duties?)

1. Associate or Bachelor’s degree in accounting

2. Strong analytical and organizational skills to prioritize multiple responsibilities

3. Proficiency in Microsoft applications and willingness to learn other software applications

4. Willingness to become proficient in statutory accounting principles for the P&C insurance industry

5. Strong communication skills (written, oral, and interpersonal)
