Responsible for selling fresh citrus to retail, wholesale and food service customers. Responsible for handling all day-to-day business transactions. Responsible for order processing, providing ad, lid and daily pricing. Responsible for mediating shipping point and arrival issues in a timely and consistent manner. Responsible for coordinating transportation needs, where required, for assigned retail, wholesale and/or food service customer accounts. Responsible for developing and maintaining customer relations.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/DUTIES
- Contacts and sells to customers using pricing guidelines on a daily basis.
- Makes sales calls and presentations to assigned customers.
- May be asked to make sales visits to assigned customers to discuss promotional activities, distribute samples of citrus varieties and packs, inspect products, and promote Sunkist citrus products.
- Works closely with other Account Managers and/or key Account Managers.
- Handles customer claims on fruit shipments and negotiates settlements.
- Provides pricing, market conditions and crop conditions to customers.
- Resolves credit and collection issues with assigned customers.
- Analyzes both customer specific and market sales data to optimize sales strategies.
- Accomplishes department and organization goals by completing related tasks as needed.
- Prepares routine email and communicates with customers regarding invoicing, questions, or pricing.
- Maintains customer files.
- Secures Sunkist citrus products from member packing associations using pricing guidelines obtained from the varietal desk.
- Performs other related duties and special projects as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School or better.
- At least 5 years’ selling experience in a sales environment or work experience related to fresh fruit sales
- Ability to learn and understand produce market conditions.
- Must possess a valid unrestricted driver’s license
- Strong computer skills: must be proficient in MS Office, Word, Excel and Outlook; ability to operate standard office equipment.
- Ability to cultivate and maintain effective working relationships.
- Must be detail oriented; work in a fast-paced environment with high ability to multitask.
