Job Description
The Account Manager, with 5-10 years related industry experience, will provide account operational management to ensure clients' project needs are met with quality, timely products and services. They will work alongside the Account Director, with responsibility for managing day-to-day projects, campaigns, meetings, and event coordination. The Account Manager maintains awareness of overall media and advertising plans, as well as the social media calendar. They are fully dedicated to one of MarCom Group’s largest accounts, overseeing several projects to ensure they are on time, on budget, and within scope.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- The Account Manager may supervise Account Coordinator functions as assigned, and review their work as needed.
- Delegate ownership of project components, providing oversight where needed, and assigning responsibility for following through to completion.
- Educate and train others on handling client inquiries and requests to effectively address their needs.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Support the Account Director in managing day-to-day projects and account management.
- Ensure timeliness and accuracy of all client deliverables.
- Manage client requests and correspondence.
- Write clear and concise creative briefs.
- Deliver frequent reports to the Account Director of new client requests, feedback, and challenges, with collaboration to implement solutions.
- Take the initiative to improve and streamline existing internal processes to ensure timeliness and simplicity.
- Monitor contract budget to deliver monthly project and financial status reports to clients and stakeholders.
- Prepare written requests and justification with pricing for Other Direct Costs requests for the federal agency Contracting Officer’s review and approval.
- Manage vendor relationships and negotiations, ensuring projects, orders, plans, and renewals are complete and timely.
- Maintain accurate client records, keeping track of any contract updates and renewals.
- Proactively communicate with the Account Director on project updates and anticipated issues with proposed solutions.
- Work with other internal teams to plan and oversee development of client deliverables.
- Anticipate and monitor client needs to prepare and offer solutions proactively, and identify opportunities for follow-on tasking within their budget.
- Meet regularly with other team members to discuss progress and find new ways to improve business.
- Work cross-functionally within the company, and with partners and vendors, to communicate client needs.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Proven client relationship management experience.
- Excellent communication (verbal and written) and presentation skills
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills to effectively support and monitor for several campaigns and projects.
- Detail-oriented with ability to prioritize tasks and follow through to completion.
- Ability to work independently, delegating and providing oversight where needed.
- Attention to detail to ensure clients receive the correct advice and support.
- Excellent people management and cross-functional facilitation skills.
- Innovative problem-solving skills to help resolve customer issues or needs.
- Up-to-date understanding of the industry’s trends and consumer behavior.
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills for dealing with different audiences.
- Exceptional analytical skills for reviewing and assessing client data.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Aptitude for learning new communication or project management platforms as needed.
Education & Experience
- B.S. or B.A. in advertising, marketing, or business preferred
- 5-plus years experience in project management
- Knowledgeable on the implementation and use of project management tools
- 5-10 years experience in a related field (e.g., Advertising, Public Relations, Marketing Communications, Strategic Communications)
- Experience in federal contracting and recruitment marketing is a plus.
- Proven track record of receiving positive customer feedback.
- Professional certifications are a plus.
