Purpose of the Job: The Account Development Representative’s (ADR) mission is to service and grow small account customers via outbound phone calls, emails and videoconferencing in order to sell plant material, qualify leads & prospect for new customers.
The ideal candidate will have some past sales experience, a working knowledge of horticulture suppliers, the ability to consult/recommend which crops to grow, knowledge of crop timing, basic understanding of the finished market and be available to occasionally respond to weekend customer calls.
To become a high performing ADR, the candidate should be able to quickly develop rapport and provide outstanding customer service by demonstrating relentless follow up and displaying strong listening skills.
Job Responsibilities and Duties:
- Sell plant material to fulfill the company’s mission, drives revenue
- Qualify leads in order to enable the company to be more effectively allocate coverage
- Prospect for new business to identify new customers, potential revenue
- Consult and recommend crops to customers in order to provide value added service to the customer; increase chances for additional sales
- Provide the best customer service including responding to occasional weekend calls which increases the chances the customer will be successful; demonstrates customer commitment
- Possess basic finished market understanding as finished products are an important supplemental revenue center for small accounts
- Keeps up with product and service information updates which allows the ADR to effectively explain product features to the customer & protect business from competitors
- Learn the Ball Product Mix via catalogs, webinars, trial garden visits, etc.
- Become proficient in utilizing Ball Systems (Webtrack, SAP, Zoom, Microsoft Teams, etc.)
- Be willing to travel a few times each year to grower trials, trainings, suppliers, meetings, etc.
- Must have at least 2 years of Horticultural Industry experience
- Must have High School Diploma or GED. Bachelors in Horticulture related field preferred
- Must have strong written and verbal communication skills as well as attention to detail
- Needs to be competent with Excel, Word, Outlook & PowerPoint
- Must have a basic understanding of crop timing
- Must work well with others and in a team environment
- Must be able to travel domestically a few times a year to attend conferences and industry events.

Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit/stand 100% of the day
- Ability to use hands/fingers 100% of the day
Salary Range: $50K - $60K
