The Academic Advisor of UNC School of Medicine (SOM) Asheville collaborates with the Associate Dean, Administrative Director, and fellow Academic Advisors in all responsibilities of the UNC SOM Asheville Campus. This role acts as primary advisor to a portion of the Asheville branch campus medical students. The Academic Advisor meets on a regular basis with members of the UNC SOM Advisory College as well as UNC SOM Asheville branch campus team.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Primary Advisor to a portion of UNC School of Medicine Asheville students
- Participates in required individual student meetings throughout the year, with additional meeting times offered.
- Attends weekly UNC College Advisory meetings via teleconference.
- Works in collaboration with College Advisory and fellow Asheville Advisors to maintain consistency and comparability across campuses for all students.
- Attends weekly team meetings with Asheville SOM
- Attends additional Chapel Hill meetings as appropriate.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Qualified candidates will possess MD or DO degree AND experience in academic medicine and leadership.
REQUIRED LICENSES:
- Licensure to practice medicine in North Carolina.
SCHEDULE:
Regular attendance on-site is an essential function of this position. Work hours will need to be flexible in order to respond to special work assignments, or evening activities, as requested by the team leader. Applicant must be able to commit to a minimum of .3 FTE for this position.
