Job Summary: The Academic Advisor I is an entry level advising position. Under direct supervision, the Advisor I will be engaged in academic advising activities that support UA at the institution or college level.
Additional Department Summary: With a focus on retention and student success, this position advises undergraduate students in the College of Communication & Information Sciences with attention on academic schedules, registration, and degree progress issues alongside holistic student success including engagement, wellbeing and transition. The Academic Advisor provides assistance with new student orientation by facilitating presentations to both students and parents. Additionally the Academic Advisor teaches CIS 100, a course specific to new students in the College. As a member of Tisch Student Services & External Relations, advisors also assist with event planning, program coordination, communication to students and the recruitment of new students.
This position may be eligible for remote hybrid work.
Required Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and some experience. Student or Graduate Assistant, Intern, or student oriented experience will be considered.
Skills and Knowledge: Strong organizational and interpersonal communication skills (written and oral). Strong computer skills and knowledge. Strong presentation and teaching skills.
